Overnight Zeke had set up the boys' new indoor trampoline!

Zeke was in the older boys' room. He had put all of their Christmas books from their shelf into their book basket (we rotate which books are in the basket per season/holiday). We noticed the basket was toppled over and Christmas books were all over the floor.
We followed the trail and found Zeke on the top of their book shelf with some more Christmas books! He was wearing his little black glasses and was reading The Night Before Christmas.

10 days until Christmas!
Zeke was on the top of our light above our dining room table. And hanging from the light was a paper chain numbered 1-10. Zeke left us a note telling us to cut off one link every morning and that would tell us how many days were left until Christmas day!

The boys woke up and immediately ran through the hallway into our room saying they were ready to get up and look for Zeke. It way too early so I told them to go back in their beds and relax with a book until it was time for breakfast. A very short while later, they ran back down the hallway and told me that Zeke was in there room! He had put Mario and Luigi stickers on the wall space above their beds. He was also on the wall and looked like he was in a video game level! The boys got a kick out of it and loved the new wall decals for their room (which are easy to put on and take off to rearrange and don't do any damage to the paint).

Today Zeke was riding a toy motorcycle on the top of the mirror in our family room.
He left a note saying he was up having motorcycle races. The boys guessed that he must have won because he had the biggest bike and his magic probably made him faster. He left out a bunch of motorcycles and monster trucks for the boys to race.

The boys found Zeke on a shelf by the Christmas tree playing cards with some of their favorite characters (Yoshi, Luigi, Sonic and Tails).
The boys thought Zeke must have quietly flew in their bedroom and borrowed some friends to play a game with!
He left us a brand new card game (Angry Birds) for our family to play together and we played it ALL day. It's such a fun family game.

Zeke 2012 - Day 35 - Rudolph

Ezra's preschool class learned a new reindeer (in the order of the song) every day starting on the first of December. After they made it to Rudolph, the class got to take turns taking the reindeer home. It was Ezra's turn to bring them home on Friday. This morning we found Zeke in the living room. He had lined up all of the reindeer in order on top of the window.
He was sitting on Rudolph's back in the front of the line!
On the couch we found Zeke's note along with a brand new book, the original story of Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. We read the book and sang the song many times.
Ezra's preschool Christmas play and party were later than day. Santa was there and he sang Rudolph with the kids! They were proud to know all of the reindeer names.

Isaiah was the first awake (as usual) and jumped right out of bed to look for Zeke. He was in our living room on top of the fireplace mantle and he had spelled the boys' names with their letter blocks. The block bin was on the floor and there were blocks scattered all over! Zeke built a tower among the mess and also spelled his name with the letter blocks. He left us a note encouraging us to play and spell more words. Isaiah wanted to spell mom and dad so he did and we put them up on the mantle next to the boys' names. :)

Today we found Zeke in our dining room hanging out by our little Christmas tree. He left a note under the tree and beside the tree we noticed a bowl filled with bags of mystery ingredients.
We read the note and Zeke gave us instructions on what to do with it. He said to follow the directions exactly or nothing would happen.
1.) Pour the dried North Pole snow in the bowl. Try not to spill any!
2.) Put the red and green seeds in the snow. Make sure they are completely covered.
3.) Sing Jingle Bells.
4.) Put the bowl somewhere safe. Let it sit. Don't be too noisy around it!
5.) It takes good behavior to make something grow! Be extra, extra good all day.
6.) Before bed, put two pinches of magic red elf sprinkles on top of the snow.
7.) Sing Rudolph.
8.) Go to bed and wait until morning to see what will grow!

Zeke 2012- Day 29 - He's back!

We put up and decorated our Christmas tree yesterday and the boys talked about how Zeke would hopefully come the next morning just like he did last year. We couldn't find our Christmas star to top the tree, and the boys were worried Zeke wouldn't come if we didn't have a star. I told them not to worry and that I was sure he would love the tree. They were so excited, they went to bed early and woke up extra early to see if he had arrived.
Isaiah was up first and woke up Ezra and they rushed downstairs. As soon as Isaiah turned on the light in the living room, he saw Zeke on the top of the tree. And next to him was a red star with gold glitter! The boys found the Elf on the Shelf book underneath the tree and with it was a note from Zeke (just like he wrote us everyday he was here last year!). The note said that he was so excited to be back! And he noticed we couldn't find our star for the tree so he made us one to use until we could. The boys thought that was so cool.
When we went to eat breakfast, we saw there were stars, paint, glitter, crayons and paper all over the dining room table. This is where Zeke must have made us the star! Isaiah said he must have practiced a lot before making the big one that he put on our tree.

We found Zeke next to the stereo listening to some Christmas tunes. He left us a kids' Christmas album (the disc was in the CD player) and wrote a note telling the boys that he loaded holiday music onto their DSi game systems so they could listen to it anywhere!

It wasn't hard to spot Zeke today! He put together a wooden train track that covered our entire living room! He was riding on a train on a separate little track he built for himself. The boys had fun playing with the set up.

We found Zeke today in the dining room. He had made a paper elf chain across the archway! The elves were cut out of paper that the boys had doodled on the day before.
He left a few paper elves out on the table and the boys had fun making them fly around. Isaiah commented that Zeke forgot to put hats on the elves and later that day, we found that Zeke had heard him and made all of the elves hats!

Our older boys love Mario Brothers so it was exciting for them to find Zeke this morning playing Wii and hanging out with Mario, Luigi and friends.
He had a tiny Wiimote in his hand. (I cannot remember where we got this but it is perfectly elf-sized.)
The boys enjoyed playing video games while Zeke watched!

This morning as we headed downstairs, we found Zeke hanging on to a bunch of balloons just floating around the stairwell!
He left each of our three boys a gold star balloon tied to the stair banister. All of the boys had fun playing with them!

The Tradition
The Elf on the Shelf is a special scout elf sent from the North Pole to help Santa Claus manage his naughty and nice lists. When a family adopts an elf and gives it a name, the elf receives its Christmas magic and can fly to the North Pole each night to tell Santa Claus about all of the day's adventures. Each morning, the elf returns to its family and perches in a different place to watch the fun. Children love to wake up and race around the house looking for their elf each morning.
There are two simple rules that every child knows when it comes to having an elf. First, an elf cannot be touched; Christmas magic is very fragile and if an elf is touched it may lose that magic and be unable to fly back to the North Pole. Second, an elf cannot speak or move while anyone in the house is awake! An elf's job is to watch and listen.
Elves typically appear in their families’ homes at the beginning of the holiday season (around Thanksgiving in the U.S.). On Christmas Eve, the elves return to the North Pole with Santa Claus--until next year!
